Mgr Christian van der Ploeg (1959) was appointed Regional Vicar of the region of North West Europe on 10 April 2022. The region includes Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands and Scandinavia.

Mgr van de Ploeg was Opus Dei's Regional Vicar for the Netherlands from 2008 until 2022. After studying law in Amsterdam, he studied theology in Rome, where he also obtained a doctorate in philosophy. He was ordained priest in 1988. In 1999, the Bishop of Haarlem–Amsterdam appointed him student chaplain in Amsterdam, and a year later rector of the Amsterdam Church of Our Lady. He held both positions until 2008.
